The O/B starter drives are rubber cushioned  drives. If any oil gets between the compression nut and the rubber grip Surface, drive failure will result.
donotspray2.jpg (18441 bytes) Always remove the drive assembly before applying lube to the shaft. Only apply a thin film of water resistant grease to the shaft. Make sure to wipe off any excess.
